- Will my favorite MythTV plugin be integrated into HACKmyth?
Maybe. We will continually add new plugins and features into HACKmyth upgrades. However, only useful, stable and appropriate plugins will be integrated.
- Why is the Home Automation piece separate from MythTV?
Because this is a separate program licensed differently for use in many other consumer electronics. We are happy to put this program in to be used by this community, but cannot give it away.
- Are you doing anything for the MythTV community?
Yes! We have and will continue to fix and update pieces of MythTV to work better on television using a remote, and using the hardware we use. Look for our name in a piece of code near you!
- I just got a box and the video capture is not working, what do I do?
Check to make sure the PCI card is properly seated both vertically and horizontally. It is known to come loose in transit. We are resolving this problem for future releases.
- This Z-Wave stuff is cool, where do I get more devices?
We do sell some devices in our own store, but there are many other devices available on the Internet. Check with the Z-Wave
Alliance to see what is available.
- Why doesn't my DVD work in MythTV?
Legal problems for encoded DVDs. Currently there are no licensed decoders available to work within MythTV. We are looking into some possible future solutions for this problem. CSS can fix this problem, but it is illegal to distribute or use within the United States. A script is supplied to install CSS for those outside the United States.
- What is Z-Wave?
It is only the best currently available wireless home automation standard. Go to the website of Zensys or the Z-Wave alliance to learn more.

- How does this whole update thing work?
As long as your HACKmyth is connected to the internet and can get to our servers, it will randomly check our servers for updates. As updates become available, they will be automatically downloaded and installed.
- Can I make updates work with my own MythTV installation or box?
No. HACKmyth boxes are verified in many ways, and their installations are tracked. Any attempt to update any other box will lock up your personal update account.
- I have some ideas on ways to make MythTV better, do you care?
Of course! We would love to help the community make MythTV a success. Our plan is to focus on our Home Automation product to make money, but we plan on supporting the MythTV community which helped us get where we are.
